Why do you refer to the Virtual Adept as 'we'. The reason for this is simple. I don't run this website on my own, I have people help me, moderators and so on.

Resources
When submitting resources use the contact form. You can send me any file type and I will post it if it is relevant. You will of course receive the credit for the file.

Gallery
The gallery is limited to hosting common image file formats (jpg, gif, png etc.), zip archives and pdf documents.
If you cannot make a pdf of your files (there is plenty of free software for doing this) then send the file to me via the contact form and I will convert it to pdf for you.

You must own the copyright or have permission to reproduce the files you are uploading.

The control panel is the hub of your experience on this site. I will briefly describe each section.

Your Details
A summary of your details in case you forget who you are.
Click on Edit to change these details
Click on Password to change your password

Your Messaging Settings
This shows at a glance the message that you have agreed or blocked receiving. A tick by a heading means that you will receive those messages.
Receive game invites - When a GM invites you to a game you will receive an email notification
Receive GM quick messages - Receive quick messages from the GM of games you are playing. Only the GM of games you are actually playing can use this feature.
Receive game join requests - Receive an email when a player applies to join one of the games that you are GMing.
Receive notification of game posts - When players or GM's make posts to the games you are playing than you will receive an email notification.
Receive system/service messages - Important announcements from us. We recommend you leave this setting on. As a general rule you will receive one message every 6 weeks.

IMPORTANT
All of these messages will be received from notices@virtualadept.co.uk ensure that you have added this address to your spam filter.

Your Forum Account
This allows you to link your forum account to your Virtual Adept account. This will help with rankings in the near future.

Your Games
This lists the games that you are running (GMing) and playing. If you click on a link under the As Games Master heading then you will be taken to the Manage Game Screen. Clicking on a link under As A Player takes you straight to that game.

Manage Game Screen
The Game Details section allows you to modify the settings of the game, simply make your changes then click 'Update' to abandon the changes click on 'Cancel'

Player Management
This section allows you to invite new players to your game, simply enter their alias and click 'Invite'

A list of the players of his game appears next.
Selecting 'Contact player' by a name in the list will take you to the quick messaging page.
Selecting 'Kick from game' will ask you to confirm that you want to remove this player from the game.

Game Options
View the game or delete the game.

Status
When actions are performed on the control panel this will notify you that the actions you have made have been successful.

Gallery
If you have not yet setup your gallery then clicking here will take you to the setup screen. If you have a gallery setup then clicking here will take you to your gallery.

New Messages
This shows the last few unread messages that you have received, clicking on the title of the message will allow you to view the message. Clicking on Message Centre will take you to your message centre where you can send and receive internal messages to other members of the site.

Your Invitations
Any invitations to join games that you have received will appear here allowing you to accept or decline the invitation.

Your Application Requests
Any requests that have been made by players to join any of the games that you run will appear here where you can accept or decline the request.

The forum is where players can meet, talk about RP games, the industry or each other!
It also hosts forum based games. If you want to start a forum based game then simply contact me and I will setup the game for you.

The threaded game system on this site has been designed to allow members to host and play PBEM games in an easily managed and navigable way. Although there are many ways to use this system two example games can be found on the games page by following the View Demonstration link.

There are other ways to use the system and if you find a good way then please post it on the forum. Also on the forum are more indepth guides to help you running and playing these games.

If you have any suggestions for improving the system then contact me or post on the forum.

Create A New Game
Every game requires a title, make it relevant and enticing.
Every game requires a description, this will give players a good idea of your game.
System/Universe; simply enter the rule system or setting so that players know the game they are playing.
Enter your email address. This is used for administrative purposes.
New posts public - When checked new posts by your players default to being viewable by all other players, when unchecked posts are not vieweable unless you specifically specify them. You can change the privacy of an individual post at any time.
Public - When this box is checked it allows non-players to view the progress of your game. Only posts you mark as public (viewable by your players) will be viewable by the public.
Open - When checked new players can request to join your game.

The gallery allows you to showcase your work; photography, art & fiction are the most common files added to galleries. It means that you get free publicity and allows ou to showcase your work for free. If you wish to directly link to your gallery then please feel free, simply copy the url from the permalink section of the galleries page. You can also directly link to your albums and individual files. Again just copy the relevant permalink.

Every user is entitled to one gallery. In this gallery you can have an unlimited number of albums and in each album an unlimited number of files. Please be responsibe, space costs money and I have to pay for it!

Create or Edit Gallery
Your gallery needs a title, usually something along the lines of 'John Smith's Gallery'
You gallery also needs a description, use this to describe yourself and your work.
If you wish you can upload a picture for yor gallery, this will appear on your gallery page and on the list of galleries.
You can enter an email address and a website. These will appear on your gallery page and provide a means of people contacting you.

Once your gallery is created simply click on 'Add Album' to add an album. You can add as many albums as you like, you will see them appear underneath your gallery profile. Click on one to view the album and edit the album properties.
Delete album to delete the album, you will need to confirm this action.
Edit Album to edit the album properties, give it a new name and description and add an email or web address for this album.
Add File to add a file to the album.
When adding a file you need to add a description, this can be as long or as short as you like but keep it relevant. You can also choose whether the public can see this image or site members only.
